Upcoming PS3 Titles for 2010

January 18th, 2010 cherryb No comments

Now that Game of the Year awards for 2009 are behind us it is time to look towards a new year of gaming.  Here are 35 games from the Playstation 3 lineup for 2010 that we are keeping our eye on.  Remember, obviously there are other games releasing in 2010, these are just 35 that we find interesting for one reason or another.

Assassin Creed II Episodes

Another Assassin’s Creed game only a year after Assassin’s Creed II? Sounds crazy, but take a look at the sales this series has generated and you can hardly blame them if they do release it this year. It may not be Assassin’s Creed III, but with multiplayer already confirmed to be heading in its direction there could be some other pretty big changes on the way nonetheless.

Final Fantasy XIII

Seems like only yesterday this game was revealed.  Alright that’s not quite true – it feels like an age ago, and seeing every new video out of Japan only makes it feel longer.  Finally all the Final Fantasy fans will get to play the latest game in the series on March 9th.

God Of War 3

Some of you may be thinking “hey, didn’t I see this last year?”.  Well, yes, and you’re going to have to get used to that for a couple of these due to delays.  God of War 3 is still the cap off to one of the most beloved action series in gaming and the demo has gotten the fans in a frenzy.  I cannot wait to see what crazy violent things Kratos does next when the game comes out in March.

With so many exciting new games coming out this year, it will be hard to pry ourselves away from our consoles to go back to our daily lives. Check out the other upcoming titles of 2010 here

Government intelligence organisation targets recruits with Xbox Live ads

GCHQ to run ad campaign within Xbox Live online games to attract 18- to 34-year-olds to its ranks

Government intelligence organisation GCHQ is to run an ad campaign within Xbox Live, to attract quick-thinking 18- to 34-year-olds to its ranks.

The campaign marks the first time that GCHQ, which reports to the foreign secretary, David Miliband, and works with MI5 and MI6, has run ads through Microsoft’s internet-connected Xbox Live platform, which connects gamers all over the world.

GCHQ’s recruitment campaign will run on the Xbox Live platform, home to games including Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Left 4 Dead 2 and Assassin’s Creed II.

The government agency is running the six-week campaign using recruitment firm TMP Worldwide and said that many of its recruiting criteria are “reflected in game-play experiences on Xbox, such as quick thinking, problem solving and team work”.

Xbox Live’s main demographic, 18- to 34-year-olds, is also a good fit for GCHQ.

The campaign will include ads on the Xbox Live “dashboard” and within games through streamed video banners.

“As well as tackling ‘traditional threats’ GCHQ’s work is also about helping government departments, such as the Ministry of Defence, to protect their information and communication systems,” said a GCHQ spokeswoman.

“This means we can offer excellent training and careers for people with specialist technical skills. However, the fact remains that many potential candidates remain unaware of GCHQ and what we do. Using video on Xbox LIVE helps carry our message to the right people in a creative and innovative manner,” she added.
GCHQ ran an ad campaign with Microsoft in 2007, although this was only in online games on PCs.

GameStop Exclusive Xbox 360 Controller

October 17th, 2009 peterpopoff No comments

October 16, 2009 – In late September we caught wind of a new product listing on the EB Games/GameStop online store, which displayed a new multicolor design and exclusive branded packaging. Outside of one low-resolution photo, a price tag of $69.99, and an October shipment date, the listing had little extra info on the new model. Now, Microsoft’s Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb has given us a little extra insight into the new gear, as well as some tasty high-resolution photos via a post to MajorNelson.com.
According to Hryb, the new controller will be sold exclusively at retailers GameStop, EB Games, and Micromania in the United States, Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Spain, Ireland, Denmark, Finland, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Sweden, Australia, and New Zealand. As we already knew, the controller includes a black Play & Charge kit and pre-orders ship this month.

Modder adds camera, custom firmware to Slim

October 6th, 2009 peterpopoff No comments

It seems that someone called JoblessPunk DESIGNS has managed to imbue a PSP Slim with dual nubs (more on that in the video below), a second USB port for charging, a camera, custom firmware (for emulators and the like), and switched out the UMD for 32GB flash memory. But that’s only the beginning: It seems that this gentleman is on a mission to single-handedly destroy the PSP Go by bringing his own vision of handheld gaming to the masses — and to help him do just that he’s put together one hell of an infomercial, complete with multiple camera angles, a vintage cable access set, and a truly mystifying soundtrack
