Recycle Baby’s Teeth Into Jewelry

January 7th, 2010 cherryb No comments

Jewelry designer Kim Kovel has came up with the idea to turn the teeth that has fallen out of your baby’s mouth into jewelry. When your baby gets older, we all know that we are used to getting their little booties bronzed, but gilded baby teeth jewelry is the new bling. Kovel’s “Le Knockout’s” collection includes gold, silver engraved or gem adorned teeth.Read More Here

Most Expensive Jeans

January 4th, 2010 cherryb No comments

The popular worker’s denim trousers have become modern day fashion and status symbols. Designer jeans come in and out of popularity but in early 2000’s, expensive jeans started coming back into fashion with brands such as APO Jeans, Chip and Pepper, Paper Denim & Cloth, Seven for All Mankind, True Religion and many other brands costing $200 or more per pair.

The Guinness Book of Records lists a pair of Gucci genius jeans featuring elaborate feathers, beads, rips and buttons as most expensive jeans off-the-rack at a cost of $3,134.

But recently Forbes has showcased Escada’s Swarovski crystal-encrusted expensive jeans which sell for $10,000 US.

Levi Strauss Company bid $46,532 to buy a pair of their own brand of jeans back on the popular auction site eBay. However, the most expensive jeans were an average pair of 501 jeans manufactured in the 1880s and purchased by a Japanese collector in 2005 for $60,000.

The gold-heavy pieces, which range from $3,000 to $55,000, require a high level of craftsmanship. The Cisterna collection involves pleating gold to create wave designs that allude to the Romans’ mastery over water (the cuff weighs in at more than a half pound).

Nike 112 Pack Expansion – Hyperdunk + Air Force 25 Low

October 7th, 2009 peterpopoff No comments

Last summer, Nike released the DJ Clark Kent-designed 112 Pack, a collection of three classic Nike models, each reinterpreted with a super-fresh colorway and the use of Elephant print and 3M materials. The original pack consisted of an Air Force 1 Low, an Air Max 1 and an Air Trainer 1, and now it appears that two more Nike models will be joining the 112 family. The Nike Hyperdunk and the seldom seen Air Force 25 Low will also be receiving a 112 color scheme. The Air Force 25 keeps it pretty simple, using almost identical color blocking to the design of last year’s 112 Air Force 1, while the Hyperdunk version gets a little bolder thanks to a grey Elephant print upper with a black base and Volt Flywire and accents. The two new additions are rumored to possibly be an Asia exclusive, but hopefully a few pairs will make their way to the States. Stay tuned for more info and check out that 3M glow after the jump. The Columbia Bugathermo boots will make your feet straight-up sweat even in the coldest of conditions, at least for a few hours. You’ll want to start heading home when the battery display starts dropping, lest you’re stuck out in the snow with just plain normal boots on instead of futuristic superboots. You wouldn’t want that to happen!

They’re available now for $250. [Columbia via Besportier via Engadget]

German luxury watch brand A. Lange & Sohne and Paris-based jewelry store Dubail have collaborated to (re)introduce Tourbograph Pour le Merite with an extraordinary diamond decoration. The huge amount of work involved in crafting this top quality masterpiece includes some 40 carats of baguette diamonds, and the bracelet is set with 175 stones. The case and bracelet, both rendered in platinum, offer an extremely elaborate degree of setting in areas such as the tops of the case lugs and bezel. The case flanks are set with baguette diamonds along with the chronograph pushpieces and the A. Lange & Sohne-signed winding crown. Priced at $1.75 million, at the very least, this timepiece epitomizes the authentic luxury. Read more…

Jordan Dark’s Doernbecher Jordan VI

September 28th, 2009 No comments

Designer: Jordan Dark
Hometown: Mt. Angel, Oregon
Age: 12
Health issue: Ewing’s Sarcoma
Hobby: Driving his remote control car
Charity Auction price: $12,000

Designing an Air Jordan. It’s every kid’s dream. For Jordan Dark, that dream was made possible over the past year as he was selected to participate in the latest Nike x Doernbecher Freestyle project. He was told he could pick any material, any pattern, and infuse any details and touches specific to his life. He tapped into his high school colors, touched on his trying chemo dates, and even referenced the classic pre-game phrase of the Chicago Bulls. His shoe also is proudly the first-ever Air Jordan VI with an all-translucent outsole. With a rich suede upper and bonded panels, Jordan was actually surprised with a custom pair all his own that featured red contrast stitching.

A last minute request of his that couldn’t be changed in time for production, the Jordan Brand team had just enough time to make one pair for Jordan. The release version will incorporate tonal navy stitch lines through each overlay, as well as a quilted satin liner and several details specific to Jordan. The #1 on the heel? It’s not his jersey number, but rather signifies that after everything that Jordan was forced to overcome during his stay at the Doernbecher Children’s Hospital, he was still able to lay claim to the #1 G.P.A. slot in his class. Congrats Jordan!

Jordan Dark’s Doernbecher Air Jordan VI will be releasing on November 14th with a retail price of $165. Hear below firsthand how some of the details came to life…..

New Balance Sues LVMH for Copyright Infringement

September 15th, 2009 No comments

new-balance-louis-vuitton-240a-091109
New Balance Athletic Shoe Inc. has sued LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton, alleging that the luxury goods company copied its best-selling 574 casual sneaker.
According to the lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Boston, New Balance alleges that LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton’s Minstrel sneaker, released as part of the luxury firm’s winter 2009 collection, intentionally copies the 574’s shape and coloring with the Minstrel. New Balance first introduced the model in the mid-nineties.

“Louis Vuitton’s deliberate attempt to trade off of the New Balance trade dress is clear from the fact that the principal color in which the Minstrel is offered is a gray/gray colorway that, in conjunction with the New Balance trade dress, is exclusively associated with New Balance as source,” the suit said.

Air Force 1 East Vs West Rivalry “West” Eddie Cruz

September 6th, 2009 No comments

In the United States the rivalry between the east and west coast is not limited to the mid 1990’s over hyped Hip-Hop beef. The cultural and geographical divisions are often played out in athletics, a healthy outlet. Though Regional rivalries are often nastier, inter-rigional rivalries take on added cultural significance. Nike has channeled the bicoastal beef into a pack

We have been posting previews of sneakers from the Nike East vs. Nike West Rivalry pack all summer. The pack features basketball and football characters on each sneakers insole with either east or west on the tongue of both Air Force 1’s and Dunks.

Here we have a look at the Nike Air Force 1 Low “West” in purple reptile skin print on a leather construction. The kicks also feature yellow accents and a red sole. The kicks were designed by Eddie Cruz of UNDFTD a New York native that now resides in Los Angeles.dsc01117-copydsc01118-copy
