Stupid twitter!!!
Those two tweets above were regrettable. Johnson is having a terrible season though, at 358 yards on 132 carries. The average of 2.7 yards per carry is well below his career average of 4.4. He hasn’t found the end zone yet this season. Sure, frustration is understandable, but keep it in house. Maybe air it out to your boys. Don’t be stupid and put it out there for everyone to see. (Although, now Johnson has clearly learned his lesson and made his Twitter account private.)
When one user on Twitter, jaredlaunius, called out L.J.’s hypocriscy of criticizing his coach given his own poor play, it didn’t end well. He lashed out and used a homophobic slur. So yeah, not Johnson’s finest Sunday.
I love having athletes on Twitter. I think it’s a lot of fun to get some insight into the lives of a lot of these guys. This, however, is the downside. Players have found an entirely new avenue to create PR messes for their teams. I don’t suspect this is the last we’ll see of it. You’ve also got to wonder, based on poor play plus off-the-field headaches, how much longer we’ll see him in a Chiefs uni.
UPDATE: Well, it got even more ugly. Johnson told reporters to get their “fa—- a– out of here” today when the media tried to talk with him in the locker room today.
